Christian Blockbusters

First it was the success of Mel Gibson’s Passion Of the Christ and the box office success of The Nativity. Christian film makers are coming to realize that they can get out the Word and still be entertaining. A consortium of Christian movie makers are in the early stages of bringing “Christ accessible” films to a public yearning for guidance and values. This insider will update you periodically on the films as they’re slated for production, the first being, Starsky and Christ.

After accidentally killing his long-time cop and life-partner, Hutch, the desolate Starsky is teamed with Christ, a by-the-book rookie who is mysteriously transferred from an unknown precinct. His saintly approach to police work miraculously transforms druggies, dealers, thieves and criminals into religious zealots who’re ready to kill for their faith. The volatile, pugnacious, shoot-first-mirandize-later Starsky eventually comes around when Christ compassionately cuffs German arms merchant, Manny Autoban, the film’s chief villain. Before his eyes, Manny eschews jail and volunteers to perform thirty years of community service at Mother Theresa’s Calcutta mission. His unilateral decision gets Christ in hot water with the department and he’s “crucified” in the press, ending his career, which the newly converted Starsky vows to emulate.
